Hannon Grants Send Aid to Local Schools, Social Services
Catholic schools are taking a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, but six local high schools will be able to provide scholarships and tuition assistance to students, thanks to generous grants from the William H. Hannon Foundation.
Treasurer Jim Hannon said his own Catholic school education provided “benefits for life” that he hopes the foundation’s gift can give to other students. “The value that these schools provide our local community is priceless.”
The Foundation is also providing grants to six social services organizations in the area, including the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children in Venice and the South Central Los Angeles Ministry Project (LAMP).
As LA’s most vulnerable populations continue to suffer during the coronavirus pandemic, the foundation says it is prioritizing organizations on the frontlines, providing housing and food to those in need.
“Our founder, my late uncle, William Hannon, considered it a priority to support organizations that are helping the most vulnerable in our communities, especially those organizations that often fly below the radar,” said Kathleen Hannon Aikenhead, president of the Foundation. “We hope that our continued support of these crucial organizations will help them in their mission now at this incredibly critical time.”
